FNU Expands Faculty Leadership Through Six New Endowed Chairs

Frontier Nursing University’s ongoing mission to provide exceptional education for the preparation of nurse-midwives and nurse practitioners relies heavily on the expertise and dedication of its faculty. The FNU Board of Directors recently announced a financial commitment to support the development and retention of
the university’s academic leaders, through the establishment of six new endowed chairs.

“I am proud to share the exciting news that Frontier Nursing University’s Board of Directors has approved the appointment of six prestigious endowed chairs to support and recognize several of our outstanding faculty leaders,” FNU President Dr. Brooke A. Flinders said. “This is a meaningful milestone for FNU and a powerful investment in our academic programs, and our institutional mission, which focuses on impacting rural and underserved populations.”

Endowed chairs represent one of the highest honors a university can bestow. In higher education, these appointments recognize excellence in teaching, scholarship, leadership, and service, while ensuring dedicated resources to advance innovation and deepen expertise in key areas.

“Due to the collaborative work of President’s Cabinet and Board of Directors, we are ready to steward these resources in a way that aligns with our current and evolving needs,” Dr. Flinders said. “These endowed chairs will directly support our newly expanded academic leadership structure, ensuring we have the capacity, expertise, and leadership in place to advance our mission and meet the growing demands for nurse-midwifery and advanced practice nursing education.”

“We are grateful to the Board for their thoughtful stewardship and endorsement of these named funds and are proud of the faculty who will carry these distinguished titles,” Dr. Flinders said. “Each of these new chairs, and the existing Distinguished Chair in Midwifery and Nursing, reflect the legacy, mission, and forward-looking vision of Frontier Nursing University. Together, they will help us recognize and elevate several faculty leaders, whose work transforms education, advances practice, and improves care for the communities our graduates serve.”
