Tishsa Karhoff, 2026 Board of Directors Student Representative

Tishsa Karhoff, BSN, RN, CLC, is a graduate student in the Nurse-Midwifery program at Frontier Nursing University and serves as a Student Representative on the University’s Board of Directors. She has more than 16 years of nursing experience, beginning her career as a licensed practical nurse before earning her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2018 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2024.

Tishsa currently serves as a labor and delivery nurse, childbirth educator, and certified lactation counselor at a rural hospital in southeast Kansas, where she is passionate about supporting women and families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Her professional interests include physiologic birth, breastfeeding support, patient education, and expanding access to quality maternity care in rural and underserved communities.

Before entering nursing, Tishsa served in the Army National Guard as a combat medic and deployed to Iraq in 2005. She remains committed to serving and leadership through community volunteerism, student leadership, and advocacy for maternal and newborn health. She has served on Frontier Nursing University’s Student Council and volunteers with local organizations that support individuals and families in her community.

A wife, mother of four, and lifelong learner, Tishsa plans to practice as a Certified Nurse-Midwife in rural southeast Kansas or Indian Health Services, where she hopes to improve access to compassionate, evidence-based maternity care while honoring the unique needs of the communities she serves.
