Kelsey Kent, PhD, PMHNP-BC, CNE

Dr. Kelsey Kent, PhD, PMHNP-BC, CNE, is a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 14 years of experience in Veterans’ and community mental health care, specializing in the treatment of co-occurring PTSD, anxiety, and gastrointestinal disease. Her research and clinical interest focus on the brain-gut connection and the relationship between trauma and GI symptoms.

Dr. Kent earned a PhD in nursing research from the University of Texas Medical Branch, an MSN from Vanderbilt University, and a BS in psychology from Lipscomb University. She is an active member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the National Organization for Nurse Practitioner Faculty and spent five years serving on the Board of Trust for the Tennessee Nurses Foundation.

At Frontier, Dr. Kent has been faculty since 2017 and serves as the course coordinator for MH708 Principles of Psychotherapy Across the Lifespan in the PMHNP program. She is currently working on research and implementation of an AI simulation tool to develop psychotherapy skills in PMHNP students. Dr. Kent also serves as chair of the FNU Research & Scholarly Works Committee, where she strives to promote research and scholarship among FNU faculty.
