Dr. Brooke A. Flinders, DNP, RN, APRN-CNM, FACNM
Dr. Brooke A. Flinders’ academic professional experience began in 2006 as an adjunct professor within the Department of Nursing at Miami University. From 2007 to 2024, she served as a professor of nursing at Miami, rising from visiting assistant professor to assistant, then to associate professor and, ultimately, to full professor. While serving as a nurse educator, Dr. Flinders provided evidence-based Teen Pregnancy Prevention education across four southwestern Ohio counties as Co-PI and consultant for the federally funded FOCUS Butler County program in partnership with the YWCA Serving Butler County and as part of a service-learning program for undergraduate students.
As an administrator, Flinders held the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in Miami’s College of Liberal Arts and Applied Science division at Miami Regionals from 2016-2017. Dr. Flinders served as the Chair of Miami’s Department of Nursing from 2017-2022 and then as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 2022-2023. In 2023, she was named as Miami’s Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs.
Before her academic career, Dr. Flinders gained clinical experience, initially serving as an RN at Bethany Lutheran Village, a senior living facility in Centerville, Ohio. She next practiced in community-based nursing roles through Warren County Kids in Development Services, where she provided home visits to families with newborns and birth to three-year-olds. Flinders worked in Labor and Delivery at Mercy Franciscan Mt. Airy in Cincinnati and Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio. She then practiced as a full-scope Certified Nurse-Midwife with Northern Kentucky OB/GYN with Infertility.
