Alexandra Peters, DNP, APRN, FNP-C

A graduate of Frontier Nursing University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program, Dr. Alexandra Peters serves as a Course Coordinator for Advanced Pharmacology Across the Lifespan within the Primary Care courses. She is actively involved in leadership and service at FNU through her work on the Scholarship Committee, Bylaws Committee, AI Workgroup, and as a former Co-Lead of the Pillar 3 subgroup of the President’s Steering Committee.

Dr. Peters earned her BSN from the University of Maine and her MSN from Simmons University.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Peters has served Vermont communities for more than a decade, with a strong focus on pediatric primary care and underserved rural populations. Her professional interests include quality improvement, health equity, and innovative approaches to enhancing patient care and nursing education.

Dr. Peters was named the 2023 Preceptor of the Year by the Vermont Nurse Practitioner Association in recognition of her commitment to clinical teaching and mentorship. She also co-authored “Improving Effective Hypertension Management in Rural Primary Care,” which was published in the Journal of Practical Nurse Education in 2025.
