Important Information to Know Prior to Applying

HEALTH ASSESSMENT (HA) – MSN applicants who have not successfully completed a three (3) credit HA course will have the HA course added to the first term of their POS (program of study).

FRONTIER/DNP BOUND ORIENTATIONS – Orientation Bounds, also called Frontier Bound are designed and required for all degree-seeking students attending FNU for the first time as well as returning students beginning a new academic program. The objectives of the Orientation Bounds are to create a community, provide tools for success, cultivate inspiration in new students and disseminate necessary policies and procedures. New students attend the on-campus orientation Bound, in its entirety for three days with other students pursuing the same degree type (MSN, DNP, or Certificate) and/or specialty track (CNEP, FNP, PMHNP, WHNP). Students stay in campus housing for the required Frontier Bound orientation. Typically, all student housing on campus is set up for single occupancy, with community bathrooms. 3Ps (Advanced Physical Assessment, Pharmacology, and Pathophysiology) – PGC applicants who have not successfully completed each of the 3Ps across the lifespan will have the missing course(s) added to the first term of their POS (program of study).

COURSE TRANSFER POLICY – Refer to the FNU catalog and conduct a search (Ctrl + f) by using the keyphrase,  Course Transfer and read ALL areas regarding course transfers.

INTERNATIONAL CLINICAL SITES (Guam, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico) – Refer to the FNU catalog and conduct a search (Ctrl + f) by using the keyphrase, International Clinical Sites and read ALL areas regarding international clinical sites.

WORKING DURING THE CLINICAL PRACTICUM – Refer to the FNU catalog and conduct a search (Ctrl + f) by using the keyphrase, working during the clinical practicum.

Out of Hospital BIRTH LIMITATIONS – Refer to the FNU catalog and conduct a search (Ctrl + f) by using the keyphrase, Out of Hospital Birth and read ALL areas regarding out of the hospital.

ADVANCED PRACTICE while an FNU Student and MIDWIFERY PRACTICE while an FNU Student – Refer to the FNU catalog and conduct a search (Ctrl+f) by using the keyphrases, Advanced practice while and FNU student and Midwifery and nurse practitioner practice by Frontier students and read ALL areas regarding midwifery practice and NP practice while a student.

CAREGIVERS & CHILDREN ON CAMPUS – Refer to the FNU catalog and conduct a search (Ctrl + f) by using the keyphrase, Breastfeeding Infant on Campus and read ALL areas regarding infants on campus.

CLINICAL SITE IDENTIFICATION PROCESS – Students are responsible for securing their clinical site. FNU does provide resources to support students in this process.
